Lack of Se can cause inflammation. Studies have shown that inflammation often leads to disorders of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, but the mechanism by which Se deficiency causes inflammation of the porcine adrenal glands is still unclear. In order to study the effect of Se deficiency on the adrenal glands of pigs, we obtained Se-deficient pig adrenal glands through a low-Se diet. The results of mass spectrometry showed that the Se content in the Se-deficient group was only one-tenth of the control group. We detected the expression of the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and downstream factors by qRT-PCR and Western blotting, and found that the lack of Se affected the TLR4/NF-κB pathway. It is known that miR-155-3p, miR-30d-R_1, and miR-146b have all been verified for targeting relationship with TLR4. We confirmed by qRT-PCR that miR-30d-R_1 decreased most significantly in the Se-deficient pig model. Then we tested 25 selenoproteins and some indicators of oxidative stress. It is confirmed that Se deficiency reduces the antioxidant capacity and induces oxidative stress in pig adrenal tissue. In short, a diet lacking Se induces oxidative stress in pig adrenal tissues and leads to inflammation through the miR-30d-R_1/TLR4 pathway. This study provides a reference for the prevention of adrenal inflammation in pigs from a nutritional point of view.Iron is critical for fetal development. The objective of this study was to determine differences in placental transfer of oral iron (57Fe) and expression of placental transferrin receptor 1 (TFR1) and ferroportin (FPN) mRNA and protein and their association with maternal and neonatal iron-related parameters, including maternal hepcidin, among women with and without prepregnancy (PP) obesity.
57Fe ingested during the third trimester of pregnancy was recovered in venous umbilical cord blood among 20 PP obese [BMI (in kg/m2) 30.5-43.9] and 22 nonobese (BMI 18.5-29.0) women aged 17-39 y. Placental TFR1 and FPN mRNA and protein expression were quantified via qPCR and Western blot. Maternal and neonatal markers of iron status and regulation, as well as inflammation, were measured. Descriptive and inferential statistical tests (e.g., Student t test, Pearson correlation) were used for data analysis.
There was no difference in cord blood enrichment of 57Fe or placental mRNA or protein expression of TFR1 or FPN among the women with and without PP obesity. Maternal hepcidin was not correlated with cord blood enrichment of 57Fe or placental FPN mRNA or protein expression. Maternal log ferritin (corrected for inflammation) was inversely correlated with log percent enrichment of 57Fe in cord blood (partial r = -0.50; P &lt;0.01, controlled for marital status) and protein expression of TFR1 (r = -0.43; P=0.01).

The adults trapped using food attractants had obvious generational changes and the same trends in variation for females and males. The extent of ovarian development in trapped females tended to increase within each generation, and the major axis length of testis in trapped males tended to decrease. Reproductive developmental status of trapped adults also differed significantly among months. This study shows that by trapping H. armigera with food attractants, the population dynamics of adults in the field can be monitored, and reproductive anatomy can also be used to monitor adult reproductive status. Xenograft experiments were utilized to analyze tumor growth. Ectopic expression of PTTG3P was involved in CRC and related to dismal prognosis. Through gain- and loss-of-function approaches, PTTG3P enhanced cell proliferation and glycolysis through YAP1. Further, LDHA knockdown or glycolysis inhibitor (2-deoxyglucose (2-DG), 3-BG) recovered from PTTG3P-induced proliferation. And PTTG3P overexpression could facilitate M2 polarization of macrophages.
